If you use your printer regularly it will eventually break down. Here are six problem indicators.
Increase in paper jams.
Paper Jams are a common printer problem but if they become frequent it can indicate that something is wrong. It could be a problem with your printer’s feeding mechanism. So, if you see an increase in paper jams, you should have it looked at to see if it needs to be serviced.
Producing strange odors.
If your printer is making strange odors, it can be an indication that there is dust or dirt in the system. If this is the case blowing on it with compressed air or wiping it lightly with a soft cloth should fix the problem. If the odor continues after it has been cleaned, then it could be an indication of a bigger problem.
Making strange sounds.
If your printer is making unusual noises such as squealing, then it may be an indication that the rollers are not working properly. These sounds are indications of improperly aligned or broken parts. The sound results from parts not moving together as they are supposed to. It tended to produce extra wear and tear that can cause the machine to break down.
Spotty or streaky printing.
If your printer is printing spots and streaks it could be an indication of a problem with the transfer roller. Now it could just mean that the toner or ink cartridge needs to be replaced, but if the problem continues it could be a result of a transfer roller problem.
While fading printing can mean the toner or ink cartridge is low, it can also indicate a dirty or damaged roller. If you replace the cartridge and clean the roller and the problem persists it is an indication that the surface of the roller is damaged. If that is the case, you will need to have a professional look at it.
Not working at all.
The biggest indication of a problem with your printer is that it is not working at all. If this is the case, there is something seriously wrong with it and it will need to be looked at. It could also be a sign that it needs to be replaced.
If you are experiencing any of these problems you are probably going to need a printer repair and service provider to look at your printer.
